This Lansing School of alumna from the Class of 1992 gave Bellarmine an estate gift by making us the beneficiary of a life insurance policy.
Jeanette (Wimbish) Whitfield was born on August 20, 1939 to the late William J. and Virginia M. (Schad) Wimbish. Jeanette was a native of New Albany and registered nurse, graduating from the old St. Anthony Hospital School of Nursing which she attended on a full scholarship. She received her BSN from Bellarmine University and also was certified in occupational health. Her work history included emergency nursing and later in the field of occupational health.
The highlight of her career was being named Kentucky Occupational Health Nurse of the Year in 1994. Jeanette was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Albany. She loved books and was an avid reader, especially political history. She was involved in a book club, several knitting groups, The Red Hat Society (Hoosier Hunnies Division), The Merry Melodies singing group, and a member of the Vintage Fire Museum. She enjoyed travel and continued this following her husband's death.
